Our Process

We realize the purchase of a SAXS/WAXS/GISAXS instrument is a large investment for any institution. And that such an opportunity only comes around once a decade… if at all.  That is why we work intensively with our customers to come up with the best possible solution within any given budget. Not only in terms of what the instrument can do today, but also in terms of what it will be doing 2, 5 and 10 years from now.  Based on detailed discussions, a visit to your institution, and a visit with you to an existing demonstration instrument, we come up with a system and an offer that is particularly tailored to your circumstances.

Delivery of a system usually takes 4 to 6 months depending on the required level of customization. During this time, we work with you to obtain final approval of the delivery details, as well as help you prepare your lab for the upcoming installation.

Installation and commissioning is usually rather painless and takes 2-3 days, after which on-site training is conducted for a period of 3-7 days over one or two sessions.

As with any advanced equipment, learning all the ins and outs requires time on the instrument. And while even novice users can independently begin to collect real data on the first day or training, more advanced questions will come up as users familiarize themselves with the large number of advanced functionalities on all our instruments. For this reason we provide extended remote rapid response support, during the first year after installation, as well as continuous remote instrument support throughout the instrument lifetime.

This process has shown itself to be very successful in producing satisfied researchers capable of getting the most out of their investment, while at the same time knowing that if something comes up SAXSLAB is there to respond rapidly and effectively.
